We would like to recommend some ways you can use Poligo most effectively:
- Less is more. Set a time limit (say 10 or 15 minutes). Then many times a week, try to write as much as you can. We want you to make a regular habit of using English so that you improve faster and learn more. Don't try to write too much - it will take too long and you will probably give up! Remember you can get your points back if you write every day!
- Interaction is key. Try to interact with Poligo as much as you can. Comment on content and group posts. Use the Common Room forum.
- Let us guide you through the content. There is a lot of content on Poligo, but we don't think you need to read it all. Send in writing and ask questions so that your Editor can see where you need to improve and recommend the best content for you. Let us guide you.
- Bookmark and subscribe! Bookmark your favourite content. Join groups or subscribe to posts. Poligo will be your own personalised textbook with only the content you need. Keep it fresh with Group content that is about topics that interest you.
Send us writing to check. Ask us any questions you have about English. Then use your Editor's feedback to improve your English.
Here are some ideas about what to write:
Write Your LifeYou can use the writing service to check any writing you do. Write about your life:
- a life script—a list of things you do every day.
- your diary—more advanced than the life script, it is what you did today.
- your journal—your thoughts, ideas, opinions and feelings.
- writing dialogues—short conversations for situations you are often in.
- essays on a theme - choose a topic and write what you can.
It is good to write about things that matter to you --- either because they are connected to your personal life, or because they are subjects on which you have opinions that matter to you.
Use the Edit service for more specific practice and tasks:
- English exam practice;
- product information or English translations;
- presentation materials;
- emails to colleagues or clients;
- targeted language practice.
